[Updated Noon] Route 28 north is open at the Prince William County / Manassas City lane after a tractor-trailer overturned just before 6 a.m..

According to police, crews spent hours working on the accident clean up, working to unload the truck’s cargo — computer parts — from the overturned trailer. No one was injured.

A group of Rippon Middle School students is the focus of a lengthy investigation after a student was robbed at knifepoint, and police learned a student brought a gun to school.

On Wednesday, April 6, at 4:52 p.m., officers were called to investigate a robbery in the 14800 block of Blackburn Road, near Featherstone Elementary School in Woodbridge, earlier that afternoon.


A woman was shot while sitting in her Dumfries home.

Officers were called to an unrelated incident at 1:20 a.m. Thursday, April 14. Officers went to a home in the 1800 block of Fort Pulaski Ct in Dumfries to investigate a shooting into a townhouse. According to police, a 23-year-old woman was inside her home when shots were fired into the home by someone in the front parking lot.


There is little support among supervisors to hike Stafford County’s 5% meals tax — a fee tacked onto patrons’ restaurant bills in addition to sales tax.

Investigators are looking into a vehicle fire at an auto auction.

Prince William County fire and rescue crews were called to the Woodbridge Public Auto Action at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, for a report of a car fire.
