A temporary traffic pattern on the Interstate 95 northbound off-ramp at the exit 133 (Route 17) interchange in Stafford County will take effect tomorrow, June 24, to improve safety during construction of the I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing Project.

I-95 northbound travelers seeking southbound Route 17 toward Falmouth will now come to a full stop at the end of the off-ramp, then turn right. Drivers will no longer have to yield and then merge into Route 17 southbound traffic.


Dumfries leaders are working to introduce a gun buyback program that will allow residents to sell firearms they no longer want to the town in exchange for cash.

According to state law, the town created an ordinance to state the purpose of the buyback program. Residents are invited to come and speak on the proposed gun buyback program during the town council’s public meeting on July 5, 2022.


Residents across Stafford County have been experiencing issues with trash collection, the company in charge of collection, GFL Environmental, has attributed the problems to issues with its routing system.

Wednesday, June 22, marked the 50th anniversary of the devastation caused by Hurricane Agnes.

The storm caused massive damage across the region, including washing out a bridge that carried Route 1 over the Occoquan River in Woodbridge and the iron Pratt truss bridge that carried Route 123 over the Occoquan River. The Town of Occoquan is planning an extended commemoration of Agnes during our Discover Occoquan week in August. Among the week’s planned activities is the dedication of a memorial that incorporates part of the truss bridge destroyed by the floodwaters.


A town hall meeting on recent gun violence in Woodbridge quickly turned into a session with multiple voices calling for stricter gun laws.

Jeremy De La Rosa homered and the FredNat bullpen pitched four shutout innings, but the Salem Red Sox held on for a 5-4 win over the FredNats on Wednesday night in Salem. However, due to Carolina’s loss to Down East, the FredNats are still alive for a first-half championship.

The Red Sox scored first in the 2nd inning on a two-run home run from Tyler Miller and an RBI double from Brainer Bonaci. The FredNats answered right back in the top of the 3rd on a two-run home run from De La Rosa off the top of the wall in left field. It was De La Rosa’s 7th of the year, and the lead was cut to 3-2.


1 p.m. Thursday, June 23 | Here’s the latest on the storm clean-up in Fredericksburg, which was hit hard Wednesday, June 22 by a storm packing 80 mph winds that brought down trees and power lines.

Convenience Center Opened – Due to the prolonged power outages in the city resulting from yesterday’s storm, the City of Fredericksburg has opened a Convenience Center at the Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal Street, from 12 Noon until 4 p.m. today, June 23rd.  The Convenience Center is not a Shelter, but it will provide a place for those still without power to come and charge their phones and conduct any work during that time.  The Department of Social Services will be staffing the Convenience Center and will have a limited amount of supplies for those that need chargers or power sources.  If you plan to come to the Convenience Center, you are encouraged to bring some snacks, games, books or any other minor comforts from home.


On June 21 at 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 7700 block of Gateshead Lane near Manassas to investigate a report of a missing adult. The man was eventually located at an area hospital after being taken by rescue personnel earlier in the day.

Shortly before 2 o’clock that afternoon, the accused was determined to be under the influence of medications mixed with alcohol when he fired multiple rounds inside the home, police said.
