Jared McKenzie homered in his FredNat debut, James Wood had four more hits across two games, and the FredNats split tonight’s doubleheader with Augusta, winning 8-2 in game one and losing 8-7 in game two.

Branden Boissiere had the 8th and final RBI for the FredNats in the middle innings. Fredericksburg got a strong start from Jose Atencio, who earned his second win with the team after pitching five shutout innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. Augusta pushed across a couple runs late for the 8-2 final. Jacob Young reached four times in the game and scored his 90th run of the season, second in professional baseball to only Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees.

A case against a murder suspect was dismissed by Prince William County Circuit Court Judge Carol A. Weimer Jr. on August 4.

On October 21, 2019, 21-year-old Nathaniel Isiah Hickson was found suffering a gunshot wound in the 2300 block of Briar Rose Lane in Lake Ridge. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

On Saturday, July 30, House of Mercy hosted an annual back-to-school event.

The Gainesville-based charity provided 326 local children grades K-12 with free supplies for the upcoming school year. That donations to children represent 4.4% of the total amount of children starting classes Wednesday, August 10, in all 11 schools in the Manassas City Public School district. The suspect lives in an apartment at Covington Harper Elementary School near Dumfries, about six miles from Rippon Middle School, and had guns and ammunition inside the apartment, sources said.
