Tuesday: Virginia Supreme Court to hear case against 5 Democrats on Pr. Wm. Board of County Supervisors

Two Prince William County residents who sued elected members of the Board of County Supervisors will have their day in the Virginia Supreme Court on Tuesday, November 1.

The state high court agreed to hear the case brought by Alan Gloss and Carol Fox, who are suing all five Democrats on the Board of County Supervisors individually. The suit alleges they violated Virginia’s open meetings law in 2020, in the hours following riots near Manassas, promoted by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Former city councilman, fiancée to open art gallery in Manassas

Manassas will welcome its newest art gallery during a ribbon-cutting event on Friday, November 4.

Founded in Manassas by Virginia native Nancy Jean Edmundson and former Manassas City Councilman Ian Lovejoy, the Lovejoy Gallery on Main is a working studio that also hosts a collection of art from around the world. The two are engaged to be married.

Poilce suspect boys brought gun to Unity Reed High School

Police charged two 14-year-old boys with possession of a gun on school property at Unity Reed High School, 8820 Rixlew Lane near Manassas, formerly Stonewall Jackson Senior High School.

Investigators say the boys exchanged a gun on school grounds on Saturday, October 26.

Northbound Route 29 (Lee Highway) will have single-lane closures between White Post Road and Paddington Lane, weather permitting, this Halloween, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, to implement a traffic shift, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

During that time, the northbound Route 29 lanes between White Post Road and Paddington Lane will be shifted to the right to allow work on the left side of the bridge over Cub Run. The lanes are expected to be shifted to the right until later this fall.

Police and local government officials are preparing for one of the most anticipated public meetings in recent years, as the Board of County Supervisors will decide to allow data centers on 2,100 acres next to Manassas National Battlefield.

It’s the largest land-use case in county history, larger than 150 Walmart Supercenters, and 15 times larger than the area of Potomac Mills mall. It’s also proven to be one of the most contentious, as the meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, and will last into the early morning hours of the following day.

Two Dunkin Donuts stores robbed, employee shot

Surveillance video shows two men who smashed the glass and forced their way into a Dunkin Donuts store on Minnieville Road in Woodbridge.

A Dunkin Donuts employee was shot multiple times early Friday during a robbery.

The victim was working at the doughnut store at 2201 Old Bridge Road at Tacketts Mill in Lake Ridge when two masked men smashed through a window about 3:30 a.m., held the man at gunpoint, took cash from registers, and then shot him multiple times before fleeing.
