The Virginia Department of Transportation has scheduled daytime lane closures and brief traffic stops on the Chatham Bridge over the Rappahannock River this week.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, Route 3 Business will be reduced to one travel lane in both directions between Stafford County and Fredericksburg for repairs underneath the bridge.

Greetings, Prince William – It’s About a Kid and a Toy!  Volunteer Prince William announces Untrim-a-Tree, our holiday program which provides gifts to thousands of our neighbors in the greater Prince William community.  You can help bring a brighter holiday season to local children and seniors!  Simply sponsor a child – each child receives two gifts, valued at not more than $50-$75 per child.  Donations of Senior Baskets will be given to homebound seniors throughout the community.  Baskets could include card games, crossword puzzles, hand cream, warm socks, lap throws or wraps.  Please call Jan at 571.292.5307 or email [email protected] to request a donor form.

No community within the Prince William area is immune to the havoc and devastation caused by a disaster, whethernatural or manmade.  Volunteer Prince William is recruiting volunteers for Disaster Response positions.  Trained volunteers can fill a critical role in disaster response and alleviate the challenge of spontaneous, untrained volunteers.  Volunteers are needed to help as Reception Center Staff and Public Outreach and Education, which includes educational games such as Disaster Jeopardy and Ready Bingo. Training is provided, and you’ll feel great as you help our local community rebuild following a disaster!  Please contact Claudia at [email protected] to learn how you can get involved.

Happy Wednesday, everyone. If you’re someone who wants to learn more about their community and more about posting news content to the web, please contact me for information about a 12-week internship. It’s 100% remote, and it’s great for students and seniors.

Here’s what’s happening locally.

Today, I’ll be traveling around the area to conduct interviews at a coronavirus immunization clinic in Woodbridge, a U.S. Flag display at the Prince William County Government Center, and touring a new police station under construction in Manassas.

We’re committed to bringing you the local news that matters most. Thank you for your support.

Good morning, everyone. I hope you enjoyed your extra hour. This is the “good” time change. Here’s what’s happening around our area this morning.

Future of bus and rail: A new study recommends no VRE to Haymarket, and bus-rapid transit, and Metro to Woodbridge. Prince William County Supervisors Kenny Boddye and Victor Angry invite community members to join them for a virtual town hall on the Future of Transit, Nov. 16, 6:30 to 8 p.m. to discuss what these results could mean.

Good morning, everyone. We’ve made it to Friday and, soon, the weekend. I hope you have something fun planned. Who’s getting a start on Christmas decorating?

Time change: Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 7. As you turn your clocks back, the Prince William County Fire and Rescue System reminds you to change the batteries in smoke alarms.
