Battlefield Park to Unveil ‘Faces of the Fallen’ Exhibit for Memorial Day

MANASSAS, Va. – The Manassas National Battlefield Park will unveil a new permanent exhibit, “Faces of the Fallen,” and host Memorial Day observances from May 24 to May 26, 2025, at Henry Hill, 6511 Sudley Road, Manassas.

The exhibit dedication will take place on May 24 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Throughout the Memorial Day weekend, the park will feature guided programs, artillery salutes, walking tours, and family-friendly activities in remembrance of the 3,500 soldiers who died in the battles of Manassas.

Another Power Outage in Manassas Hits Nearly 300 Homes

MANASSAS, Va. – About 270 homes in Manassas are without electricity as city crews work to fix a faulty underground electric cable.

According to a message from the City of Manassas, the outage is affecting customers in the Stonewall, Piney Point, Willow Glen, Laurelwood, Landgreen, Liberia, Whispering Pine, Willowbrook, Silver Maple, and Firethorn neighborhoods.?

Bird Blamed for Power Outage at UVA Prince William Medical Center; Second Manassas Outage in a Week

MANASSAS, Va. — A bird caused a power outage at UVA Prince William Medical Center on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, marking the second disruption to the city’s electric service in less than a week and raising new questions about the reliability and cost of Manassas’ electric utility.

City officials said the bird came into contact with utility lines near the hospital, damaging a transformer. The hospital, which has three backup power options, quickly switched to an alternate source, restoring power soon after the incident. However, the hospital later experienced a separate internal breaker trip, leaving one building without electricity for a short time.

The Manassas Farmers’ Market, held Thursdays at Harris Pavilion and Saturdays at the VRE commuter lot on Prince William Street, kicked off its spring season in April. New Parking Lot Opens in Downtown Manassas After Olde Towne Inn Demolition

MANASSAS, Va. – Visitors to Historic Downtown Manassas now have more parking options, thanks to the opening of a new lot located between Main, Center, East, and Church streets.

Historic Manassas, Inc. announced the additional parking, which offers two-hour parking Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and no restrictions during evenings and weekends. The added spaces aim to make it easier for visitors to dine, shop, attend meetings, or simply enjoy time downtown.

Manassas Republicans Announce 2025 Candidates for Treasurer and Commissioner of Revenue

Deon Shamberger (left) and Nate Fritzen (right) are the Republican nominees for Manassas Commissioner of Revenue and City Treasurer, respectively, in the 2025 General Election.

The City of Manassas Republican Party has nominated Nathaniel “Nate” Fritzen for City Treasurer and Deon Shamberger for Commissioner of Revenue in the November 2025 General Election. Patricia Richie-Folks, a Democrat and the current Treasurer, was first elected in 2016 and won reelection in 2021 with 53.7% of the vote against Republican Anna Vincenza Phillips, who received 45.9%. Tim Demeria, a Democrat and the current Commissioner of the Revenue, was first elected in 2021, winning 51.4% of the vote against Republican Stacia Marie Jennings, who received 48.2%.
