Sheriff’s deputies found a body near the Chatham Bridge over the Rappahannock River on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
The victim had been reported missing. The sheriff has not released the victim’s name.
National Weather Service: “Low humidity & less wind today with highs in the 80s as high pressure sits south of the region. More clouds with shower & storm chances returning Thursday as a front approaches the region. Sun returns Friday with near normal temps for this time of year.”
“Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 7 mph.”
Prince William fire and rescue: “Yesterday evening [Monday, August 7, 2023], units were dispatched to the 8000 blk of Montour Heights Drive (Gainesville) for a reported townhome on fire. The home’s occupants had smelled smoke and were searching the home when heavy smoke was discovered in the attic. Crews arrived with fire showing and spreading to an adjoining home. Fire attack quickly extinguished the flames. No injuries reported. One residence sustained extensive damage, while the adjoining home suffered smoke and water damage. Both homes were posted unsafe to occupy by the Building Official. Two (2) adults were displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined a lightning strike ignited the fire.”

Prince William police: “Murder Investigation – On August 5 at 10:24PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 800 block of Fulton Rd in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a stabbing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 33-year-old man, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in an altercation outside the home that escalated physically. During the encounter, the accused stabbed the victim before chasing him to the backyard area where the victim then collapsed.”
“Arriving officers attempted to provide first aid to the victim who was pronounced dead on scene. The accused remained at the home and was detained by officers without incident. No other injuries were reported. Further information regarding the identity of the deceased will be released pending notification of a next-of-kin. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Heriberto VALDEZ, was arrested.”

“After Erik Tolman breezed through the first, Elijah Nunez, Andrew Pinckney, and Yohandy Morales all singled to load the bases with nobody out. Leandro Emilini then lifted a fly ball into right, deep enough for Nunez to score on a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead.”
National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “Showers and a few isolated thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day, especially west of the metropolitan areas. Best precip chances will be across central VA along with better chances for thunderstorms across the eastern WV panhandle and western MD.”

Lee Fox has been flying planes for over 50 years. He started as a teenager and later made a 40-year career flying passenger jets for American Airlines. But the job he now has- flying a 1942 PT Stearman bi-wing plane — is one of his dreams.
“I’ve got close to 40,000 hours of flying time, and this thing is a handful. It’s one of the toughest airplanes I’ve ever flown. Every time you fly it, you say, ‘Fly it until it’s in the hangar with the door closed because this has a mind of its own.’ It’ll want to run off on you,” said Fox.
