Prince William County Public Schools seek new Student representatives for School Board

Isabella Aversano and Fernanda Morante, both 18, serve as student representatives on the school board. They recently shared insights into their roles and experiences.

Aversano outlined the responsibilities of student representatives, stating, “The bare bones of our duties are to write remarks for each meeting and present those.” She emphasized the importance of gathering perspectives from all 14 high schools in the county through Senate meetings, where issues affecting students are discussed.

Stafford names 2nd interim administrator in two years

Craig Meadows has come out of retirement to help right the ship.

Meadows, the second interim administrator in two years, will serve as the Stafford County Interim County Administrator starting Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He recently retired from Montgomery County, Virginia (Blacksburg-Christiansburg area), where he retired after serving as its County Administrator for 14 years.

CA rules fatal police shooting at NECA training center justified after stabbing attack

Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney Amy Ashworth ruled a fatal police shooting at a union worker training center justified.

An independent criminal investigation into the shooting and the moments that led up to shots fired on Feb. 13, 2024, an alteration began in a classroom inside the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). In this apprenticeship training center, several students had assembled for a class.

For the past 11 years, MWHC has partnered with social service organizations in Fredericksburg city, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline counties to support those in need. Jennifer Maxwell, executive assistant of hospital operations at Stafford Hospital, has played a pivotal role in coordinating Easter basket drives across various departments during her seven-year tenure.

Rebecca Fizer and Laura Ward, from MWHC’s Administrative Professionals of Excellence (APEX) department, spearheaded the Easter basket collection efforts at the Mary Washington Hospital collection location.
