Two people inside a box truck tried to force their way onto Quantico Marine Corps Base.
After being pressed by Potomac Local News, base officials today said that in the early morning hours of Friday, May 3, 2024, the two men drove a truck up to the base’s main gate on Fuller Road, just outside Dumfries, told guards that they were contractors for Amazon and were making a delivery to Quantico Town’s post office. The town is located inside the military base.

Prince William County Schools press release: For some Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) employees, the time has come to bid farewell to their classrooms and offices—their retirement from the school division marks the end of an era as well as a stepping stone toward their next grand adventure.
Nearly 300 employees—educators, support staff, and administrators who have dedicated years of their lives in service to our students will be celebrated in a retirement ceremony on May 21. Through their crucial work and irreplaceable efforts, they have provided a safe and welcoming environment for all students to learn the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary to create a thriving future for themselves and their community.

School may not even be out for the summer, but some in the community are already planning what children will need when they return to class in August.
The Prince William County Community Foundation (PWCCF) is gearing up for its fourth annual Back-to-School Community Event, anticipated to attract as many as 8,000 attendees, a significant increase from last year’s 6,000. This year’s event, scheduled for August 3, 2024, at Unity Reed High School near Manassas, will feature a substantial giveaway of over 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, up from 2,500 last year.

“7News On Your Side has obtained an email revealing Prince William County Public Schools removed a speech-language pathologist from their list of evaluators because he “sides with the parents.”, reports ABC7 News.

Prince William County Police:
Fatal Crash Investigation *ARREST – On April 27, crash investigators obtained arrest warrants for the driver of the truck who was involved in the fatal collision that occurred in the area of Richmond Hwy. and Pine Bluff Dr. in Dumfries (22026) on April 24. The investigation revealed the driver of the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, later identified as the accused, failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle before entering the intersection where the vehicles collided. The resulting crash killed a 20-year-old Dumfries man. The accused, identified as Michael Eugene DYER Jr., turned himself into the police on April 29.

VDOT: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractor will begin building an intersection improvement project at Lee Hill School Drive and Old Dominion Parkway in Spotsylvania County on Monday, April 29. The intersection is just over a mile from Lee’s Hill Golf Club.
The project will transform the existing four-way intersection into a mini roundabout. Additional lighting at the intersection will be installed as part of the project.

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center press release: Dedicated volunteers from the Woodbridge Woman’s Club (WWC) gather twice a month at the Sentara Cancer Network Resource Center on the campus of Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC) to put their sewing talents to work creating heart-shaped pillows and other comfort items. Crafted by hand and made with love, these pillows are given free of charge to Sentara cancer and surgery patients.
The Health and Wellness Pillow Making Project began as a volunteer-driven, community service project to help support individuals facing cancer diagnoses. People find relief from acute pain by holding the pillows to their chests. Just as importantly, they find reassurance in knowing that people care.

VDOT: PRINCE WILLIAM – Beginning Sunday night, April 28, weather permitting, a portion of the northbound and southbound I-95 general purpose lanes in Prince William County will have nighttime single- and double-lane closures until late fall for roadway joint repairs and paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times.
