LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Hillcats used a five run seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie and beat the Potomac Nationals 6-1 Sunday afternoon at City Stadium. Chris Garcia reached base four times including on a three-run double in the seventh to pace the Hillcats offense.
With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the first three Hillcats singled off Potomac reliever Bobby Hansen Jr. with Matt Lipka knocking the third hit — an RBI single to give Lynchburg their first lead of the game 2-1. Joe Testa came on for the P-Nats and hit Tommy La Stella with a pitch to load the bases. The next batter he hit as well with Adam Milligan getting an RBI and the Hillcats lead was 3-1. With one out, Rob Wort relieved Testa and struck out Edward Salcedo. But, Chris Garcia sent a ball off of the left field fence clearing the bases and extending the lead to 6-1 for Lynchburg.
