Summer has officially arrived in the Potomac Communities and the temperatures will be hot today.
A heat advisory is in effect from Spotsylvania County in Virginia north to Baltimore in Maryland, including Washington, D.C. from noon until 9 p.m., as temperatures hovering around 90 degrees and heat index values that will make it feel like it’s in the mid-90s, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures like these can cause illness, and that’s why the weather service urges everyone to stay out of the sun and in air conditioned buildings, drink plenty of fluids, and to check on neighbors who may not have air conditioning and on the elderly.
Today’s mostly sunny forecast will give way to a chance of thunderstorms and a high temperature of 88 degrees on Tuesday.
