The Virginia Department of Transportation will break ground on a new street in Spotsylvania County near the site of a soon-to-be-built regional indoor water park.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Route 2092 will run parallel to Mudd Tavern Road — the street that crosses Interstate 95 near the Old Dominion Raceway.

A mix of rain and snow is expected Saturday night through Sunday, especially in areas along and west of the Blue Ridge. Light icing will also be possible. Additionally, a brief period of light wintry weather could occur Sunday morning in central and northern Virginia.

As the weekend wraps up, re-freeze of wet surfaces is possible Sunday night into Monday along and west of the Blue Ridge as temperatures fall.

From the county government:

The Butler Road Study is currently underway. This is a Planning and Preliminary Design Study for Butler Road (Route 218) from Route 1 (Richmond Hwy) / Rt 17 Business (Warrenton Road) to Deacon Road / Cool Springs Road (Route 607). This corridor has been identified to experience traffic congestion and safety issues for both vehicles and pedestrians during peak periods.

Residents will get the chance to weigh in on a plan to add a Sunday bus service in eastern Prince William County.

While Stafford County leaders were careful not to use the word “study” last fall, the Boar Board of Supervisors asked officials at the Fredericksburg Metropolitan Planning Organization to research sites for a new river crossing to bridge the gap between Stafford and Spotsylvania counties and Fredericksburg.

The bridge would also serve as a bypass to river crossings on Interstate 95 and Route 1.
