(The Center Square) – The Biden administration extended the federal mask mandate for public transportation Thursday even as states and local governments around the country drop their mandates.
Today, Virginia Department of Transportation crews are preparing staff, equipment, and materials to mobilize Saturday morning in emergency response ahead of an anticipated storm that’s expected to bring rain, winds, and snow to the area.
According to VDOT, crews will be ready to clear downed trees and debris, apply treatment materials to reduce icing and improve traction on Interstate 95, primary and high-volume secondary roads, and receive support from tree contractors, if required. Crews will remain on stand-by through the weekend as needed to respond to any hazardous road conditions.
Route 628 (American Legion Road) in Stafford County will close at the bridge over Interstate 95 on Monday, April 4 to construct a new overpass as part of the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
(The Center Square) – Inflation continued to soar in February, making a range of goods and services even more expensive for Americans, according to newly released federal inflation data.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics Thursday reported that the Consumer Price index, a major marker of inflation, rose 7.9% in the previous 12 months.
The work will close a southbound highway portion at milepost 136, Centreport Parkway near the Stafford Regional Airport. Crews will raise new steel beams into place at milepost 133, Route 17 near Falmouth, as part of the effort to extend the E-ZPass Express Lanes south from Route 610 in Garrisonville.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, inclement weather postponed the work to begin Monday, March 7.
Mountain Road (Route 600) between Quaker Road and Ridge Road will be closed to through traffic, weather permitting, from 7 p.m. Friday, March 11 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 12 to replace a culvert pipe, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Those needing to reach properties along Mountain Road will have access; however, traffic will not be able to go beyond the point of pipe replacement in either direction.
A projectile shattered a window on a school bus on Monday.
On March 7 at 2:50 p.m., officers went to West Longview Dr. and Franklin Street in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a destruction of property report. Police learned a BB projectile struck a Prince William County Public School bus, police said.
