Sumers (D) and Weir (R) are running in a February 21 Special Election for the Gainesville District seat on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

Two candidates vying for the Gainesville District Supervisors seat will participate in a voter forum on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Kerensa G. Sumers (D) and Robert B. "Bob" Weir (R) will appear on stage at Battlefield High School, 15000 Graduation Drive near Haymarket, at 7 p.m. The event staff from the Prince William Committee of 100 will open the door to the school at 6:30 p.m. Here's more information on this event flier.

Prince William County Brentsville District Supervisor Jeanine Lawson

The Devlin Road Technology Park -- over 4 million square feet of planned data center space -- is back on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors' agenda for Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

Supervisors are being asked to amend the county's long-range comprehensive land-use plan, moving more than 270 acres from planned mixed residential to M-2, Light Industrial, to allow for the development of up to 4.25 million square feet of data center space.

Woodbridge Senior Center

Prince William County leaders are discussing replacing a senior citizens center and the Potomac Community Library in Woodbridge.

Consulting firm Shaffer, Wilson, Sarver & Gray, P.C. presented the findings of a study on both structures, presenting an option to co-locate both county facilities in one spot.

The red line shows the path of where an 8-inch gas pipeline will travel, from the Prince William County Landfill, through an overhead power line easement in Dale City, to the county government center. The blue line shows an alternative path for the pipeline using Hoadly Road.

Prince William County Supervisors say they're not happy with how Opal Fuels and the county's office of public works failed to tell residents about a new seven-mile gas line that could soon be laid near their homes.

"The roll-out of this was quite bad," said Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Franklin during the Prince William Board of County Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Prince William County landfill

Some Prince William County residents in the Dale City area are learning about a new natural gas pipeline that could be laid near their homes.

According to project documents, New York-based Opal Fuels is considering laying a seven-mile pipeline from the county's landfill on Route 234 along a powerline easement that cuts through the Hillendale, Mapledale, and Princedale neighborhoods in Dale City, to the county government center at 1 County Complex Court, off Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge.

Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair At-large Ann Wheeler.

In her fourth State of the County address, Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair At-Large Ann Wheeler remarked on the community's diversity and inclusivity, investing in education, economic development, the county's economy, collective bargaining, public safety, and transportation.

"I am thrilled to announce that our economy is thriving," Wheeler said in her remarks. "Our internal economic development initiatives alone have resulted in $1.3 billion in capital investment in just 2022, leading to the creation and retention of over 1,700 jobs. Thanks to the resilience and determination of our community, we have not only weathered the storm but have emerged stronger than ever before. Our county has become a place where people can live, work, and play with confidence and optimism for the future."
