Updated 5:50 p.m.: A Woodbridge native is one of 32 U.S. Rhodes Scholarship awardees named Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, Class of 2024.
Fahad Abdulrazzaq, who attended Prince William County Public Schools, received the scholarship.

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “On [Wednesday] November 8th at approximately 9:25 a.m. Deputy M.A. Floirendo was conducting her SRO duties at Stafford High School, located at 63 Stafford Indians Lane, when she was informed of a fight in the gym.”
“It was discovered a verbal argument between two juvenile students ensued over a previous incident. The incident escalated when one student assaulted the other.”

Students at Colgan High School in Prince William County will stage a walkout supporting Palestine.
School administrators sent a letter home to parents about the walkout anticipated to take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Prince William Chamber of Commerce: “Colonial Downs Group announces $50,000 donation to The Prince William Chamber Foundation. The celebration of the donation took place October 25th at Preston’s Pub in Manassas Park.”
“The press conference marks the first major donation to The Prince William Chamber Foundation, recently launched by the Prince William Chamber Chamber of Commerce. The mission of the new Foundation is to encourage and support business development through workforce development, education, community outreach, and through larger service. Stafford County Public Schools: “Members of the Stafford County community, to include students, the Stafford County School Board, Stafford County Board of Supervisors, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, Stafford County Fire & Rescue Department, Grimm & Parker Architects, and McDonough-Bolyard-Peck (MBP) construction management gathered on Truslow Road yesterday to officially break ground on the construction of High School 6. The new school, set to open in August 2026, is the first construction to address the county’s growing population since 2008.”
“A contract was awarded to Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. in the amount of $139,334,000 for the construction of High School 6 during the September 12, 2023, regular School Board meeting.”
