Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares visited Prince William County on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Miaryes: “I had the pleasure to speak at Ian Lovejoy’s campaign kickoff in Manassas last night! As a Councilman, entrepreneur, and small business owner, @IanTLovejoy has served his region for over a decade and knows what Virginians want.”

Prince William police: “On May 25 at 4:27PM, officers responded to the area of Token Forest Dr. and Alistair Dr. in Manassas (20112) to investigate a fight stemming from a road rage incident. The investigation revealed the victims, a 30-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, were driving on Token Forest Dr. when another vehicle pulled in front them. The other vehicle then reversed suddenly and struck the victim’s vehicle.”

“The occupants of the striking vehicle, who were known to the victims, exited their vehicle where a physical altercation then ensued. At one point during the encounter, one of the suspects jumped onto the vehicle and began kicking the windshield, causing it to break. Eventually, the parties separated, and the police were contacted.”

“The need for the improvements came to Vega’s attention when Chris Griffin, a resident of a nearby neighborhood, voiced his concerns about the intersection’s safety. Griffin, a life-long Prince William County resident, said he wanted something done to the intersection, which he saw as dangerous.”

“Funding for this project came from the Coles District Transportation and Roadway Improvement Program (TRIP) funding. TRIP allocates money annually to each magisterial district for smaller scale district projects, such as sidewalks, trails and safety improvements.”

Prince William Times: “Opponents of the Prince William Digital Gateway were dealt another blow Thursday when a judge dismissed a second lawsuit challenging the data center development.”

“Both lawsuits were filed by residents late last year in an effort to stop the 2,139-acre data center corridor proposed just north of the Manassas National Battlefield Park from moving forward. Both suffered the same fate: dismissals from two different judges in separate hearings held just a few weeks apart.”

7:15 p.m. update from Prince William County Police Department: “The shooting that occurred earlier today [May 26, 2023, at 2:24 PM, in the 14700 block of Birchdale Avenue in Dale City] is now being investigated as a double homicide. Further investigation revealed a group of individuals were inside the home when one of the occupants began shooting, striking four males.”

“The suspect fled the home, and the police were contacted. Officers arrived at the residence and located one adult male outside of the home, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene by fire and rescue personnel. Officers then located three additional gunshot victims inside the home and provided immediate first aid until fire and rescue personnel transported them to area hospitals. One of the men later died at the hospital as a result of the injuries sustained during the shooting.”

“Delaware Land LLC, associated with prominent data center developer Chuck Kuhn, is in contract to purchase 14 parcels between Routes 29 and 55 near Gainesville, with plans to build nearly 2 million square feet of data centers if it can get the Board of County Supervisors to go along with what will surely be a controversial rezoning.”

“Among the 81.9 acres proposed for rezoning is the Hillwood Camping Park, home to a number of mobile homes and campgrounds on over 15 acres.”

Prince William County is at a crossroads and the 2023 elections will decide whether we free ourselves from subservience to developer exploitation or slip permanently into the abyss.

A positive change awaits in the candidacy of Deshundra Jefferson for County Board Chair.  She vows to restore transparency and integrity to a government that has been quick to abuse your trust and give away the store to big tech predators who are gorging on your slice of the pie.
