Prince William County fire officials say all brush fires have been extinguished.
Firefighters responded to 39 brush fires across the county on Wednesday, March 2024, including blazes in Dale City, Locust Shade Park near Quantico, and Nokesville.

Police said an 82-year-old man was maimed after a drunken driver collided with him in the street.
On Tuesday, March 12, at 7:55 p.m., police were called to Coverstone Drive and Aaron Lane near Manassas to investigate the crash.

That has prompted a significant back up for people trying to get off Quantico Marine Corps Base. Phyllis Thibodeaux sent us the photo above. “Trying to get off Quantico base to 95. Been stuck in traffic for three hours,” she texted Potomac Local.
Thibodeaux is sitting in her car on Russell Road, trying to reach the base’s main gate near Dumfries. We’ve asked her to text us again to tell us when she gets moving.

There were no children on the bus. An ambulance was called to treat the driver.

The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) will hold the Marine Corps 17.75K at the national park near Dumfries. Over 2,000 runners will begin running the 11-mile course at 7 a.m., with the last participant estimated to finish around 11 a.m. Marathon organizers say that significant delays should be expected between 4:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on event day.
Pleasant Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Lane closures related to the Opitz Boulevard girder erection project were extended until 6 a.m. At the start of rush hour, significant traffic delays were expected. Drivers were encouraged to use alternate routes if possible.
All lanes were reopened about 7 a.m.
