(The Center Square / Potomac Local News) Chief Justice John Roberts said Tuesday that a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion on an abortion rights case was an “egregious breach” of trust and would be investigated.
The son of a Stafford County Deputy threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Fredericksburg Nationals game on Sunday, May 1, which honored local law enforcement and military personnel.
Crystal Vanuch, a Stafford County Supervisor and Republican candidate for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, accompanied James, 10, to the mound. With his glove in hand, a confident James wound up the pitch and sent it hurtling toward home plate.
(The Center Square) – A Virginia Senate committee controlled by Democrats voted to reject a proposal that would have suspended the commonwealth’s entire 26.2-cent-per-gallon tax on gasoline for three months.
The Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee voted 12-3 to prevent Senate Bill 6001 from passing. Each of the committee’s Democrats and one Republican, Sen. Emmet Hanger, R-Augusta, voted against the bill. Three of the four Republicans voted to advance the legislation.
Yesli Vega, a member of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, is running for office in the state’s new 7th Congressional District.
Caleb Max, a Loudoun County businessman whose running for a congressional seat once held by his grandfather Republican Frank Wolf, is an early favorite.

The city’s Democratic Party will hold an unassembled caucus for city council nominations Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., at Manassas Park City Library, 9701 Manassas Drive.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed about 700 bills impacting the economy, health care policy, law enforcement policies, taxes and various other issues.
Each bill had some level of bipartisan support, needing approval from the Republican-controlled House of Delegates and the Democratic-controlled Senate. The governor also amended more than 100 bills, which the General Assembly will need to act on. Lawmakers are also working on several other bills that have yet to reach the governor, with the most important of those being the state budget.

(The Center Square) – The plan would give $50 to every vehicle owner, with a maximum of $100 per household. House Democrats plan to introduce their proposal as a substitute to Youngkin’s plan, which is currently being considered by the House Finance Committee. Youngkin’s plan would fully suspend the state’s gasoline tax for three months, which is 26.2 cents per gallon.
