Using the existing visitmanassas.org URL once held by Historic Manassas Inc., the redesigned website shines a spotlight on the experiential opportunities in the community. The new website features stories about the city’s antebellum architecture, the band “Manassas” featuring Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, and Liberia Plantation.
Keiry Beatriz Alvarez Contreras, 23, pleaded guilty on May 9, 2022, to striking and killing 74-year-old Jose Pastor Manzanareas with her car.
Last fall, Alvarez Contreras was driving on Route 28 near Connor Drive in Manassas Park when she struck the victim. After the collision, police said the man tried to use his cell phone to call for help, but Alvarez Contreras stopped her car, got out, swiped the phone, and tossed it away.

The renovation will include a new digital media studio equipped for video production, an updated children’s section, a new study room, and new furniture. To create a more open floor plan, the library will be planned to remove an information desk that currently sits in the middle of the building. A new service kiosk will be added, a library spokeswoman states.
The renovation of the 25,000-square-foot library, located at 8051 Ashton Avenue near Manassas, will cost just under $1 million.

Stafford County detectives quickly identified and arrested suspects in an early morning robbery at a local motel.
At 12:17 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, deputies responded to the Red Roof Inn at 386 Warrenton Road for a robbery. The victim reported he was in a motel room in the company of Jessica Smalley, 36, of Stafford, when the room door suddenly burst open. Two subjects wearing partial face coverings entered the room, and one brandished a long knife.
