Masks will be optional for nearly everyone in the Stafford County Public Schools system Thursday, February 24, even school bus drivers.

The county School Board on Tuesday, February 22, voted 5 to 3 to remove a masking requirement for teachers, school building staff, bus drivers, and children on buses. The move follows a vote earlier this month that gave parents the option to remove masks before Gov. Glenn Youngkin same new legislation giving parents mask choice.

Like a lot of people, Brad Ball thought he was doing all the right things when it came to his health.

The 62-year-old worked out regularly, ate what he thought was a balanced diet with plenty of leafy greens, and lived an active lifestyle. That’s why he was shocked in August 2021 when he realized he was having a heart attack at the gym.

Hill is the first African-American to be elected to the job since the founding of the county sheriff’s office in 1731. After arriving in the area in 1968, Hill has had a long career in law enforcement. First, he worked as a Manassas police officer and later as the Prince William County Jail Superintendent.

Over the years, he’s watched Prince William County and Manassas grow from a rural community outside Washington, D.C., to the state’s second-largest jurisdiction. In that time, the county became a more colorful place.

The region’s transit provider and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce partnered to launch a new initiative is to provide transportation resources for high school students, and students at campuses of Northern Virginia Community College, in Manassas and Woodbridge.

The crash took the life of John Avnevine, 82, of Beltsville, Md., who was driving a 2009 Lincoln Town Car near Hendrick Honda on Route 1 in Woodbridge.

An investigation revealed that the driver of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra failed to stop before entering the roadway from a business parking lot. After exiting the parking lot, the driver also failed to proceed to the closest available lane and crossed paths in front of another driver, said police.

A combination movie house and restaurant will anchor Manassas Park’s new city center development.
