National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “Hot and humid conditions today with scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Storms are more likely Sunday, with the possibility of damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rain. Not as hot nor humid with an isolated afternoon thunderstorm on Monday.”

“Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Northeast wind around 6 mph, becoming light and variable in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 30%.


Stafford Public Schools: “Stafford County Public Schools was among 24 school divisions awarded a $125,000 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Skilled Trades Grant from the Virginia Department of Education. The one-time funds will be used to implement a plumbing and HVAC program at Stafford High School.”

“We are thrilled to be recognized as a leader in CTE programming, and thank VDOE and 2022 General Assembly for their commitment to ensuring every child is prepared for life after high school,” said Stafford Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas W. Taylor. “We are appreciative of this grant, which allows us to expand programming that provides robust, real-world, meaningful classroom experiences for every student.”


“Fredericksburg opened the scoring in the 3rd inning when Daylen Lile drove in Johnathon Thomas with a sacrifice fly, Lile’s 46th RBI of the year. The FredNats then scored three runs in the top of the 6th inning against Delmarva reliever Albert Vega.”

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office:  “DRUGS -Rappahannock Regional Jail, 1745 Richmond Highway, 7/6, 7:44 p.m. Deputy C.R. Newman responded to a failed secret pocket ruse. Jail staff advised a male brought in by the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office was discovered with suspected controlled substances tucked in his underwear. While the suspect confirmed the type of controlled substances, he advised he ‘forgot’ they were there. Deputy Newman didn’t forget to charge the suspect with felony by a prisoner. He continues to be held without bond.”

“FRAUD – Augustine Golf Club, 76 Monument Drive, 7/6, 7:15 p.m. The victim received notification his debit card was fraudulently used in Dumfries. After receiving this news, he checked his vehicle only to discover his cards were in fact not there. Deputy B.E. Vaughn is investigating. Cambridge Street, 7/6, 7:30 p.m. The victim was going about her day when she discovered she did not have her debit card. After discovering this, she called her bank to discover there were fraudulent transactions. Deputy N.J. Amato is investigating.”


Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Fredericksburg Nationals used another late-game rally to defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds 8-4.

“It was a quick start for the FredNat offense in the top of the second inning. Branden Boissiere doubled to begin the frame, then Roismar Quintana reached on an infield single. Blake Klassen drew a walk, too, loading the bases with no outs. Wilmer Perez then lined the first pitch of his AB for a single to give the FredNats a 1-0 lead. A pair of productive outs by John McHenry and Johnathon made it a three-run inning for Fredericksburg.”
