74th Annual Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show & Sale Returns in March

Presented by the City of Fredericksburg Department of Parks, Recreation and Events in partnership with the Woman’s Club of Fredericksburg, this juried show will feature over 270 original pieces from 112 artists across more than eight artistic disciplines. The event highlights local talent and serves as a fundraiser benefiting the Woman’s Club’s charitable programs and Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation, and Events initiatives.

Alongside the Fine Arts Show, attendees can enjoy the annual Kids’ Art Show, which showcases creative works from young artists ages 4 to 18. This exhibit includes sculptures, drawings, and paintings, and it is available for viewing only.

Stafford Race Series Returns April 5 with Four Races Across the County

The Stafford Race Series is set to kick off on April 5, 2025, with four races scheduled throughout the year, bringing together runners, families, and fitness enthusiasts for a community-driven experience.

The first race in the series, the Stafford Hospital Spring Fever 5K, will take place at Stafford Hospital. Three additional races will follow: the Airport 5K on September 13, the Halloween 5K on October 25, and the Frosty 5K on December 13.

New FredNats Uniforms Pay Tribute to Historic African American Team

The Fredericksburg Nationals (FredNats), in collaboration with the Fredericksburg Area Museum, Germanna Community College, and Dovetail Cultural Resource Group/Mead & Hunt, have unveiled a new alternate uniform identity for select games in the 2025 season.

For select home games, the FredNats will take the field as the Fredericksburg Frogs, a tribute to an all-African American team that played in downtown Fredericksburg from 1919 through at least the late 1930s, according to a press release. Known in the press as “the world’s hoppinest team,” the Frogs were a source of pride and entertainment for the local community, the team adds.

The event will take place at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Stafford from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering a showcase of Stafford County’s finest wedding resources.

Lisa Logan, Tourism Program Director for Stafford County, emphasized the importance of this expo in providing engaged couples with a one-stop shop for their wedding planning needs. “We are bringing together over 40 vendors offering everything from photography and catering to floral design and entertainment,” Logan said. “We’ll also have door prizes throughout the day and an opportunity for guests to learn more about the incredible venues Stafford County has to offer.”

Fredericksburg Food Co-op Announces Annual Food for All 5K to Support Local Food Access

The race will take place on Saturday, April 12, at the Fredericksburg Food Co-op, located at 320 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, welcoming participants of all ages to run, walk, or support the cause in person or virtually.

The event directly benefits the Co-op’s Food for All initiative, which offers affordable and nutritious food options through the Carrot Cash program. This program provides 20% cashback to customers using SNAP/EBT, allowing them to stretch their grocery budgets while making healthy choices.

Sweet Julia Grace Foundation Receives $15,000 Grant to Support Children Facing Medical Crises

The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation (SJGF) has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. The grant will fund an expanded iPad and technology program designed to comfort, connect, and entertain children with complex medical conditions.

The grant will provide iPads, gaming systems, TVs, computers, and adaptive technology to hospitalized children who are homebound or frequently travel for medical care.

Trouvaille Brewing Offers Support to Federal Employees with 1-Cent Beer

Trouvaille Brewing Company, a veteran-owned craft brewery in Haymarket, offers federal civilian employees a small token of support during economic uncertainty—one beer for just a penny. The offer, available through March 14, 2025, is open to all current and recently separated federal employees as a way to show appreciation for their service and dedication.

The brewery, which is co-owned by five partners—three of whom work in federal civilian roles and two who are military veterans—understands firsthand the challenges faced by government employees. Trouvaille Brewing’s owners juggle full-time careers while managing the brewery, hosting events, and building relationships with their community. Their deep ties to the area and shared experiences have made them acutely aware of the struggles many local residents face.

The George Mason University Patriots women’s basketball team secured a hard-fought 76-66 victory over the University of Massachusetts during the annual #Play4Kay Pink Game at EagleBank Arena on Sunday, February 16. The event, sponsored for the sixth consecutive year by Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC), brought together fans, survivors, and medical professionals to raise awareness of women’s cancers and honor those affected by breast cancer.
