New Emergency Veterinary Clinic to Open near Fredericksburg

A new emergency veterinary clinic is set to open in Spotsylvania County, bringing critical pet care services to the Fredericksburg area. Cladda Veterinary Emergency Team, founded by a team of experienced veterinary professionals, is expected to open its doors in mid-May, pending final confirmations.

The clinic’s founder, who had been searching for an ideal location since June 2023, identified a growing need for an emergency and specialty animal hospital in the region. Within months, the core leadership team, including Hospital Director Morgan Braman and LVT Manager Mallory Wisen, was assembled to bring the vision to life.

Updated 9:25 p.m. – The Prince William County Planning Commission has voted to approve the development of two new restaurants at Sudley Manor Square near Manassas — a Panera Bread with a drive-through and a Dave’s Hot Chicken. The proposal, listed as a Special Use Permit, will now move to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors for a final decision.

The eateries will share a 4,975-square-foot building, with one featuring a drive-through and the other operating without one. The east-side restaurant, measuring 2,600 square feet, will include a drive-through service, while the west-side restaurant, at 2,375 square feet, will be walk-in only.

Goodwill Moving Across Sudley Road

A Goodwill of Greater Washington store at 8014 Sudley Road in Manassas will relocate to 8117 Sudley Road, the Westgate Plaza shopping center, across from its current location.

The store is relocating to expand and attract new business from the busier shopping center. Existing employees will move to the new store, although hiring is ongoing.

After graduating from MWU, Maggie Clegg moved across the U.S. before deciding that Fredericksburg is home.

Many newly graduated college alumni like the familiarity of the college town, so they stick around after they get the degree for one reason or another. It’s still known as ‘home,’ making escaping hard.

“I love this area,” said Katie Ambrosini, a senior at the University of Mary Washington who is graduating in a few weeks with an English degree and currently works at a nearby Starbucks. I want to try to get a full-time job if I can,” she said, putting her degree to work.

Amazon Fresh near Manassas to Close This Weekend

Amazon confirmed the closure in a statement, saying:

“Certain store locations work better than others, and after an assessment of our offering we’ve decided to close our Amazon Fresh store in Manassas. Customers in the area can continue to shop from a wide selection of grocery products at Amazon.com/grocery with same-day delivery options, or from our other Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market stores in the area. We remain committed to Amazon Fresh and our broader grocery strategy and will continue to refine our portfolio of stores as we learn which locations and features resonate most with customers.”

The sign, which overlooks Interstate 95, marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to modernize the retail hub. It is a refreshed version of the shopping center’s original signage, which has stood since its opening 30 years ago.

Steven Crews, a spokesman for Central Park, confirmed that the updated sign is part of a broader initiative to enhance the shopping experience. “Modernizing the ‘Big Red’ sign to match the motif of the new I-95 sign, as well as updating directional signs throughout the complex, is all part of our vision for the future of Central Park,” Crews said.
