Stafford, Va. – It appears any legal questions about Eric Olsen’s residency in Stafford County were quelled by a judge Friday.
Prince William County Circuit Court Judge Lon E. Ferris tossed out a Writ of Quo Warranto lawsuit filed by a Stafford citizen, David Johnston, questioning Olsen’s residency in Stafford. The case was heard by a Prince William judge after all of Stafford’s judges recused themselves from the hearing.
Dumfries, Va. — Dumfries Mayor Fred Yohey has died at age 63.
According to Insidenova.com, Yohey passed away Sunday night at Sentara Potomac Hospital where he had been admitted on Oct. 22 after a medical emergency.

Woodbridge, VA – U.S. Senator and former Governor Mark Warner, U.S. Senator Jim Webb, former Governor Tim Kaine, and Congressman Gerry Connolly announced their endorsements of Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi for re-election, citing Supervisor Principi’s strong leadership and real results on addressing traffic congestion and other pressing issues affecting Woodbridge.
“Frank Principi has shown real leadership during his past four years in office on the issues that affect all Woodbridge residents,” said Senator Mark Warner. “His efforts to encourage Smart Growth Developments along the Route 1 corridor will help to alleviate the congestion on our roads, while creating high paying jobs in Woodbridge. It is my pleasure to endorse him for re-election on November 8th. “
The county won the Distinguished Budget Recognition Award from the Government Finance Officers Association. The group examined how county leaders stick to their outlined budget as a driver to set public policy, how well it serves as a financial plan, as well as strengths and weaknesses in communication.
Earlier this year, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors passed a $241.2 million budget that included a reduction of the number of county government employees and a decrease in real estate taxes.

Stafford, Va. — Two men are in custody today charged in a series of burglaries in North Stafford and Fauquier County.
Their recent string of burglaries targeted homes off Va. 610, on Chadwick and Newbury drives, Poplar Road in Staffords Rock Hill section, and on Tacketts Mill and Beaver Lodge roads just over the Stafford County line in Fauquier.

A judge has thrown out a filing from a Stafford County resident claiming Eric Olsen, whose running for Commonwealth Attorney in that county, does not live in Stafford. State election officials require candidates to live in the jurisdictions they wish to represent. More to come.
