Update 2:30 p.m.

Harrell Road in Stafford reopened after it was closed due to flooding. Kellogg Mill and River roads remain closed.

Stafford County, Va. — It was a tough drive to work for some in Stafford County this morning as drivers were told to avoid roads closed due to high water.

Portions of Harrell Road, River Road and Kellogg Mill Road at the Abel Lake Reservoir all closed Wednesday after a massive rain storm impacted the region, bringing nearly two inches of rain to some parts of Northern Virginia.

Weather records at three major Washington-area airports were broken Wednesday, as more rain fell that day than any other day in December since records have been kept, forecasters said.
