While Prince William County is a birthplace to many, it’s a little known fact that it is the birthplace to one of the biggest tournaments in the golfing world – The President’s Cup!
Since the inaugural event in 1994, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club (“RTJ”) in Prince William County, Virginia has been one of only three US venues for the President’s Cup, to date. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., RTJ is his self-proclaimed “masterpiece”, a par-72, 7,425 yard course that hosted the Presidents’ Cup four times – 1994, 1996, 2000 and 2005.
Today a new chapter in RTJ’s storied history will begin, as it is the premier golf destination for the 2015 Quicken Loans National. In less than ten days, some of the best golfers in the world will descend on RTJ in Prince William County to compete for the Quicken Loans National $6.7 million purse.
And while the Quicken Loans National PGA TOUR will welcome 120 top golfers, including Tiger Woods and Justin Rose, highlighting each golf player’s play by play, we decided to highlight Prince William County’s own play book on golf. Here’s what we found out:
