Erica Nicole Pfaff and Don Rickerson III were married at Monument Heights Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, on May 17, 2014. Erica is the daughter of Gary and LaDorna Pfaff of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, formerly from Warrenton, Virginia; Don is the son of Connie and Don Rickerson II of Manassas, Virginia, and the grandson of Don Rickerson, Sr. of Corry, Pennsylvania. Erica and Don, both cellists, met as stand partners playing Handel’s Messiah in Manassas in 1999.
The couple was married by Erica’s Sunday school teacher, Reverend Robert Turner, of Westhampton Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia.
The bride was attended by her sister, Anna Pfaff, Maid of Honor, and Bridesmaids: Emily Cullen, Stephanie Jones, Nissa Rickerson, and Jessica Walton, all dressed in shades of sage green. The groom’s Best Man was his father, Don Rickerson II; and the Groomsmen were Tim Ballou, Jonathon Florance, Ernie Rickerson, and Robert Rickerson. The Flower Girls were Dasha Cooper and Kiley Rickerson, wearing ivory dresses with a peach sash, made by the groom’s Mother, Connie Rickerson. The Ring Bearer was Leo Rickerson.
Erica’s dress of ivory striped silk was made by her sister, Anna. The peach and ivory-colored rose corsages were made by the groom’s Mother, Connie Rickerson. A luncheon buffet reception was held in the social hall of Westhampton Baptist Church, catered by the ladies of the congregation. The 3-tiered marble cake with chocolate/mocha ganache filling and buttercream icing was made by the bride, a pastry chef. It was topped with a miniature cello, an instrument which both the bride and groom play. Swing music and dancing abounded at the reception and an after-party at Balliceaux Restaurant and Music Venue.
The following day the newlyweds returned to their home in Newport News, Virginia, where Don is a naval engineer at the Navy Yard, and Erica is working at a veterinarian’s.
