Shoplifter Threatens Macy’s Employee with Knife

MANASSAS, Va. – On Nov. 2, a Macy’s employee at Manassas Mall told police that an unknown man tried to steal clothes from the store.

When the employee tried to stop him, the man pulled out a knife and swung it at the employee, leaving the scene on foot. No one was injured.

Here’s the latest from Prince William police: 

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On November 2nd at 12:33PM, officers responded to the Macy’s in Manassas Mall located at 8270 Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) to investigate a shoplifter. Officers arrived at the business and were informed by store loss prevention that an unknown man entered the store, took clothing items and attempted to leave the business without paying. As an employee went to detain the man, he actively resisted and a struggle ensued. During the encounter, the suspect pulled out a knife and swung it towards the employee. No contact was made and the suspect fled on foot. No injuries were reported. Officers searched the area and did not locate the suspect.

Suspect Description:

White male, between 30 & 40 years of age, 5’8”, 220lbs with a heavy build, beard and bald

Last seen wearing a tan hooded jacket with a black liner, black polo shirt with red & white stripes and blue jeans
