Dominion Virginia Power Donates $25,000 for Stafford Film

Dominion Virginia Power has made a large investment in Stafford, donating $25,000 to Stafford’s 350-year anniversary campaign to be used in a film that will present Stafford’s historical role in the United States.

?“Dominion Virginia Power’s generosity will significantly enable us to preserve and share Stafford’s unique history in the building of our great nation,” said Harry Crisp, chairman of the 350th Blue Ribbon Anniversary Committee.

“This film will allow us to continue our anniversary celebration beyond 2014, so that future generations will learn how important Stafford’s people and places were in our nation’s history.” ?Cessie Howell, a member of the 350th Blue Ribbon Anniversary Committee, has championed this film from the very early planning stages of the 350th anniversary celebration, especially for the many benefits it will offer to school-aged children.

One of the goals in making this film is to use it as a school learning material in Stafford area schools.

“We need to share Stafford’s history in our schools, and make it a part of our curriculum, so that our children will be knowledgeable about the contributions Stafford has made to American history, and be proud to be a citizen of this special community,” she said. ?

There are plans to make 5,000 copies of the film when it is completed. Stafford began its 350-year celebration events on January 4, 2014.
