This year’s Black History Month Celebration will honor several town residents, and mark the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

This year’s “Annual Black History Month Celebration” will be very special, as the Town will focus on honoring our unsung heroes, during the event. Our Town is full of history, and prides itself on the diligence of our citizens. The honorees, Mr. & Mrs. Lillian B. and Carroll F.Porter, Mr. Claude C. Thomas, Mr. Clyde N. Washington, and Mr. John Wilmer Porter volunteered their time, talents, and efforts to the Town, and have made significant contributions and accomplishments; they deserve to be celebrated, and we will do so, on February 8th!
