Dominion Upgrading System, Will Cut Power to Some Stafford Homes

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Power will soon be cut temporarily to some homes in Stafford County.

The utility will work to upgrade a switch in the area of Park Ridge along Parkway Boulevard between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The newer, more reliable switch will allow the utility to reroute power in the event of an outage, reduce the number of customers affected in the event of an outage, as well as prevent outages from occurring.

“The current switch is nearing the end of its usable life, so we will work to replace this one, and others like it, as an upgrade to our entire system,” said Dominion Virginia Power spokesman Dan Genest.

If it rains, the work will be postponed to the following day, Sunday, Sept. 8.

While Dominion is working to upgrade its overall power supply system, Genest could not say where future work would be performed in the area.
