Severe Storms Popping Up in Area

Rain storm moves through Woodbridge, flash flooding along Prince William Parkway.

Due to severe weather in the area, tonight’s game at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge has been postponed.

Tonight’s P-Nats series opening contest in Wilmington, Delaware against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals) has been postponed due to a torrential thunderstorm that carried with it a tornado warning for the city of Newark.

A doubleheader is set for Saturday night at Frawley Stadium to begin at 5:05pm featuring a pair of seven-inning

3:40 p.m. 

Severe thunderstorm warning extended until 4 p.m. for central Stafford County. Storm headed into southern Maryland, states weather service reports. 

3:15 p.m. 

A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for Stafford County and southeastern Prince William County until 3:45 p.m.

A storm has been spotted 14 miles northwest of Fredericksburg, moving about 20 mph, and is capable of producing damaging winds up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe weather is making its presence known in our area at this hour.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued for Prince William County, and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, as a nasty storm was spotted near Warrenton and moving in the direction of the warning area. The warning remains in effect until 3:30 p.m.

The storm spotted said to be moving at 15 mph, producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, according to the weather service.

The area has seen temperatures creep into the 90s today as heat and humidtiy continue to rule the weather pattern. The Washington area remains under a severe storm watch until 9 p.m., and the threat of storms remains with us through the weekend.
