Police: Man Tried to Lure Teen into Relationship

MANASSAS, Va. — Police said a 30-year-old man used Facebook to try to lure a male teenager into a sexual relationship.

On Monday, April 15, the Manassas City Police Department was advised that Jose Mayorga had solicited a 16-year-old male juvenile via cell phone and Facebook in an attempt to entice him into a sexual relationship.

The case came to light on Monday when the victim told school officials, who then notified police. After an investigation involving the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Jose Felix Mayorga, 30, of 7820 Appomattox Avenue, Manassas (20111), was charged with Use of a Communications Device to Solicit a Minor, a Class 6 Felony. He was held at the ADC without bond, pending an appearance in J&DR Court.

Commercial Burglary

Manassas City Police are investigating the burglary and theft of checks from ‘Jefferson Title, Inc.’ at 9256 Mosby Street. According to a business representative, the crime occurred sometime between March 25 and April 15, when suspicious bank account activity was discovered.

Stolen Auto

Manassas City Police are investigating the theft of a car from the 9200 block of Lee Avenue. The theft occurred at approximately 1:00PM on Thursday, April 18. A purse, wallet, license, credit cards, and check book, were also in the car. The owner had briefly left the car unlocked, with a spare key in the purse. The car is 2005 Dodge Caravan, silver, with “pro-life” stickers on the back.

Larcenies from Auto

Manassas City Police are investigating the theft of items from three cars on the 10300 block of Butternut Circle. The items were discovered missing on the morning of Thursday, April 18. A purse, a laptop computer, cash, shoes, and portable electronics were reported stolen. All of the cars appeared to have been left unlocked.
