Armed Burglars Prompt School Lockdowns

LAKE RIDGE, Va. – Some schools in Prince William County have resumed normal operations this afternoon after home invasion in Lake Ridge.

Just before 1 p.m., police reported three armed men entered a home in the 12500 block of Colebrook Court off Old Bridge Road. The men didn’t take anything and were said to appear to be young males.

A massive police presence reportedly swarmed the area, along with a police helicopter that was called into search the area for the three home invaders.

Nearby Woodbridge Senior High, Lake Ridge Middle, and Old Bridge Elementary schools were placed on secure the building mode.

Just before 2 p.m., police said they had performed an extensive search of the area but had turned up little, and that a broader description of the three men would be provided at a later time.

Normal operations at all three area schools resumed.

The men got away in a white sedan, according to police. There were residents inside the home at the time of the armed burglary, but nothing was taken and no one was injured.
