STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — What’s the price of fuel these days? Apparently it’s too much for someone who siphoned off 300 gallons of diesel from a parked tractor trailer in Stafford County.
The gas was siphoned from a truck carrying cars sometime between the late evening hours of Tuesday and the early morning hours of Wednesday, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
The truck was parked outside a Days Inn on Simpson Road, and that’s where a county sheriff’s deputy was called to meet the fuel-less driver.
Locally, a gallon of diesel sells between $3.89 and $4.05 per gallon, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Fuel Price Finder.
The sheriff’s office asked anyone who might have seen the fuel thirsty culprit at work to call police.
