Two shootings in Fredericksburg over the past week left multiple people wounded and rattled residents in a city where such incidents are rare.
At the Express Food Mart on William Street—across from the apartments where the first shooting occurred—the store manager said her cashier heard someone yelling for help.
“Help, help, help,” she recalled. “Across the street in the laundry room,” she added, pointing out the window.
A few doors down at Freddy Donuts, employees also heard the commotion. “I had just left—thank God,” said Piper Trammater, who works there. “The next day, everyone was talking about it.”
Across the street at Soup and Taco II, staff saw the emergency response. “Police and I think an ambulance too,” one server said.
The Nov. 13 shooting happened in the 800 block of William Street, where two victims were struck. One victim received care at the scene, and a second was identified during the investigation. Both were hospitalized, police said. Detectives are still working to identify the person involved, described as a black male wearing no shirt and gray jogging pants. No additional details were available. Police said preliminary findings suggest the incident was isolated and the individuals knew each other.
The second shooting occurred early Nov. 16. At about 1:20 a.m., Fredericksburg’s E-911 Center received a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Fleetwood Court at the Townsend Square Apartments. Officers found evidence of a physical altercation outside a residence. According to police, a man identified as Sean Favors ran back into his apartment and, as the confrontation continued, fired into a group of four people walking back into the complex.
Witnesses told police they saw two individuals—including the shooter—enter a vehicle in front of the leasing office and flee toward Lafayette Boulevard. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly afterward. Two people ran from the car but were tracked down by Officer DeCilles and a police K-9. One was identified as a juvenile. Favors was arrested without incident later that day at his apartment. A firearm was recovered, police said.

Favors, 31, of Fredericksburg, is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of:
• Attempted second-degree murder
• Malicious discharge of a firearm into an occupied building
• Firearm removal or alteration
• Gross, wanton, or reckless care for a child
