Man arrested for impersonating a police officer

A man was arrested on Hurkemp and Brooke roads for impersonating a police officer, police said.

The suspect, a 33-year-old male from Lake Charles, Louisiana, was found walking in the middle of the road, yelling and screaming. When approached by Deputy S. C. Steinway, he initially claimed to have a Secret Service identification card.

However, he later provided a Louisiana ID and was unable to verify his claims of working for the Secret Service, police said. He was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer and is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

In another incident, a series of fraud cases were reported. On Hyannis Place, unauthorized charges were made on a victim’s bank account. Similarly, on Aly Sheba Lane, a replacement bank card was stolen and used for fraudulent transactions.

Larceny incidents also occurred, including a vehicle break-in on Hatchers Run Court, where a wallet was stolen, and a theft at Marathon Gas on Richmond Highway, where masked individuals stole vape pens.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office advises residents to lock their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables inside due to recent larcenies.
