Police & Fire Blotter: Incidents Reported Across Prince William, Stafford, and Manassas

Law enforcement and emergency responders in Prince William County, Stafford County, and the City of Manassas handled multiple incidents over the past several days, including a house fire that displaced a family in Woodbridge, two shooting investigations, drug-related arrests, and a series of disturbances and crimes.

Prince William County

House Fire Displaces Family in Woodbridge

On February 10 at approximately 8:30 p.m., fire crews responded to a house fire on the 3000 block of Fillmore Drive in Woodbridge. Flames broke out in the home’s laundry room, causing moderate damage. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported. The home was deemed unsafe for occupancy, and two adults and one child were displaced. The Red Cross is providing assistance. The Fire Marshal confirmed the fire started in the laundry room, though the cause remains under investigation.

Shooting Investigation in Woodbridge

Prince William County police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 14100 block of Bay Vista Drive in Woodbridge on February 10 at 11:23 p.m. A 23-year-old man was with a group of individuals when they demanded his property. During the altercation, a shot was fired, striking the victim in the upper body. The suspects dispersed before officers arrived. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities believe the incident was not random, and the investigation is ongoing.

Death Investigation in Gainesville

On February 9 at 1:38 a.m., officers responded to Basket Ring Court near Derby Run Way in Gainesville after a passerby found an unconscious elderly man on the sidewalk. The 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe he collapsed due to a medical emergency while walking his dog. No foul play is suspected.

Drug Distribution Arrests at Unity Reed High School

A School Resource Officer at Unity Reed High School in Manassas was notified of two students in possession of suspected THC and other drugs on February 4. The investigation determined that a 16-year-old male student had sold a suspected THC vape cartridge to a 15-year-old female student. The officer found additional illegal substances in the female student’s possession. Both students were charged, with the male facing charges of possession with intent to distribute on school property and the female charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of Schedule I/II drugs. Their court dates are pending.

Stafford County

Fredericksburg Man Arrested for Assault and Vehicle Theft

Deputies responded to an assault and stolen vehicle report at the Red Roof Inn on Warrenton Road in Stafford on February 8. A 52-year-old Fredericksburg man, Aubrey Rudd, allegedly attacked a woman during an argument and stole her car. Officers from the Fredericksburg Police Department located the vehicle and notified Stafford County deputies, who conducted a high-risk stop when it re-entered Stafford County. Rudd was taken into custody without incident and charged with assault and battery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and driving while suspended. He is being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Assault with a Taser on Ottinger Lane

Deputies responded to Ottinger Lane in Stafford on February 10 at 5:27 p.m. after a male suspect escalated an argument by using a taser on another individual. The suspect fled before deputies arrived but was later found intoxicated and littering an alcohol can. When taken into custody, he refused to speak beyond saying, “Take me to Rappahannock.” Deputies charged him with simple assault, public intoxication, littering, and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

Protective Order Violation at Red Roof Inn

A disturbance was reported at the Red Roof Inn on February 10 at 3:16 p.m. involving a man who had previously been involved in a separate incident at the location. He returned, yelling at staff about a refund. Deputies discovered he was violating a protective order issued after his prior disturbance at the motel. He was charged with violating the protective order but later released on personal recognizance.

DUI Arrest in Stafford

Deputies arrested a man for DUI on Brookdale Court in Stafford in the early morning of February 9 after a resident reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the area for several hours. The driver was found asleep behind the wheel with a half-empty bottle of tequila inside the car. He admitted to consuming four shots of alcohol before driving. He was charged with DUI and drinking while driving and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

Hit-and-Run Incident in Stafford

Deputies are investigating a hit-and-run on Caisson Road that occurred on February 9 at 9:52 p.m. A black pickup truck with purple lights lost control and overcorrected, sending a spare tire flying into another vehicle. The truck also damaged two mailboxes before leaving the scene. Authorities are searching for the driver.

Shoplifting Incidents at Target and Walmart

A female suspect was caught skip-scanning more than $100 worth of merchandise at a Target on South Gateway Drive on February 9. She was issued a summons for shoplifting.

On February 10, deputies responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart on Garrisonville Road, where a male suspect was caught stuffing over $100 worth of items into a backpack. He was also issued a summons for shoplifting.

Public Intoxication Arrests in Stafford

Deputies arrested a woman for public intoxication at Lowe’s on Stafford Market Place on February 10 at 4:08 p.m. after she was seen walking into traffic. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.

Later that evening, deputies were called to McDonald’s on Garrisonville Road for a disturbance involving a man acting erratically. When officers arrived, they found the man intoxicated and making threats. While in a patrol vehicle, he kicked the window frame, bending it. He was charged with public intoxication, destruction of property, and obstruction of justice. He was held on a $500 secured bond.

Manassas City

Shots Fired Investigation in Manassas

Manassas City police officers responded to a call about possible shots fired in the 9600 block of Garden Street on February 11 at 12:24 a.m. Officers located several shell casings but found no property damage or injuries. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact them at (703) 257-8000. The investigation remains active, and police are urging residents to follow any law enforcement direction in the area.
