When the toilet gets clogged, or the pipe springs a leak, it might be time to call Mr. Rooter, the newest plumbing place in Fredericksburg, to fix the problem.

Officials gathered on Thursday, January 30, 2025, to cut the ribbon on the new Westwood Center office just east of I-95.

“When we started Mr. Rooter here in Fredericksburg, we set out to create not just another plumbing service, but a local business that our community can trust — whether it is for routine plumbing repair, an emergency fix, or a major installation,” said Gilbert Mwenedata, owner of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Fredericksburg. “We’re proud to be part of this wonderful community, and we look forward to building lasting relationships with our neighbors, customers, and other local businesses,” he said.

There were about 50 people at the ceremony, highlighted by Fredericksburg Mayor Kerry Devine, representatives from the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, and local business owners.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Fredericksburg is a locally owned and operated franchise that opened its doors in early January but waited for the right time to cut the ribbon. So far, they’ve seen a lot of clogged toilets due to things like people flushing down paper towels or the water heater nearing the end of their natural 10-year life span. These are normal, said office manager Anatoly Chaliy.

This Fredericksburg shop is part of the nationally recognized Mr. Rooter Plumbing network; the company specializes in drain cleaning, water heater repairs, leak detection, and comprehensive plumbing solutions. They offer a wide range of services—including pipe repairs, sewer line services, plumbing inspections, and emergency plumbing—the Fredericksburg team is dedicated to meeting their customers’ residential and commercial plumbing needs with high-quality workmanship and trusted expertise.

Their “master plumber” leads the way, and currently, Mr. Rooter has a few other employees in their first month of operation. In Virginia, to become a master plumber, the individual must be at least 18 years old and have completed a licensing exam. All plumbing companies must have a master plumber on the staff.

Mr. Rooter is a Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce member and aims to get business through that city organization. The chamber has several events scheduled in February, including an intern expo on February 5, an economic meeting the next week, a senior expo in mid-February and a networking night in early March.
