Water’s End Brewery will hold a soft opening for its newest taproom this weekend. ‘Fredericksburg Square’, a 19,000 square foot property at 525 Caroline Street, will be home to the third Water’s End Brewery operation and soon a new Hot Chickn Kitchn location.
The soft opening weekend, which takes place Friday, July 1, from 3 until 11 p.m., Saturday, July 2 from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday, July 3 from noon until 8 p.m., will mark step 1 of the opening process for Fredericksburg Square.
During step 1, Fredericksburg Square will operate under limited hours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, serving Water’s End beer. Step 2 will begin with a Grand Opening with Hot Chikn Kitchn and full operating hours at Fredericksburg Square.
Founded in 2016, Water’s End Brewery is known for its popular Beer Club. Fredericksburg residents can join the Beer Club early and become a “Fredericksburg Founder” until Sunday, July 3, purchased online at fredericksburgsquare.com. The regular Beer Club Membership is available for purchase at all times and is valid at all Water’s End taprooms.
The location that houses the new brewery, Fredericksburg Square, was built as a townhouse in 1854. It survived the Civil War and was eventually bought in 1905 and converted to Elks Lodge #857.
The Elks constructed a large addition in 1925 and remained in operation until 1996 when the property was purchased by Van and Deborah Perroy. The Perroys operated several businesses within the building over the course of their ownership, notably the four-diamond-rated restaurant Augustine’s, and Fredericksburg Square, with its grand ceilings and two stunning ballrooms, primarily became known as a high-end wedding venue.
