NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A hotel guest in North Stafford got more than he bargained for on a recent trip, according to a website called “The Bedbug Registry.”
A posting on the website was apparently made by a guest who stayed at the Comfort Inn Quantico on Salisbury Drive, off Va. 610, about March 16. The writer states he found five bedbugs in his room “crawling on the fitted sheet” as he was making his bed.
The poster goes on to state the hotel staff was helpful, came to his room, took apart both beds in the room and said they would notify and exterminator.
But hotels in North Stafford aren’t alone. In January, a commenter to the site they stayed at a hotel near Potomac Mills mall and saw bed bugs. The writer stated the sight of the bugs were enough to make her go and stay someplace else.
And woman who stayed in a hotel on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge in October posted a disturbing account of bed bugs allegedly biting her husband all over his arm, as well as crawling all over their hands, according to the website.
The Bedbug Registry website is a compilation of alleged bed bug sightings in the U.S. and Canada. The site has compiled more than 20,000 reports since 2006, according to the site’s About Us page.
Bed bugs are small, brown, oval-shaped bugs that feed off human blood. They don’t transmit disease and do not fly, but in recent years have become a major nuisance in many major American cities.
