Women Charged in Pepper Spray Case

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A woman was pepper sprayed while sitting in a car with two other women, sheriff authorities said.

The Stafford Sheriff’s office at 12:13 a.m. Saturday was called to Dunbar Drive in a rural area of Stafford County, near the Lake Arrowhead subdivision, where they found a woman who was shaken and upset, wearing a shirt covered in dirt.

The 43-year-old victim told authorities she had made arrangements with two female acquaintances to help her look for a new car. The victim offered to pay for gas in exchange to be taken to search of a new or used car in the area of Va. 610 in North Stafford, said sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

The three occupants inside the car were headed to look at a used car on Dunbar Drive and then made a left turn onto Misty Lane where the driver of the car stopped and the victim was sprayed in the face twice with pepper spray, said Kennedy. The victim suffered injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

The victim was then pulled from the car, assaulted, and had her wallet with cash stolen. The two female suspects then got back into the car and sped away, said Kennedy.

Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate the suspects and arrested them without incident.

Autumn Haren, of Richards Ferry Road in the Hartwood section of Stafford County, and Jessica Boyd, 25, of Cynthia Place in Stafford County’s England Run subdivision are charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and with assault and battery, said Kennedy.
