Poll: What local issues matter most this election?

Here at Potomac Local, this is our big election year.

It’s a year when every seat on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors is up for grabs, as well as key seats on the county School Board.

Three seats on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors are up for grabs, as well as seats on the School Board.

  • These elected officials are dealing with continued residential and commercial growth in the region, putting pressure on area schools and the region’s transportation network.

We’ve got races for Commonwealth Attorneys in Prince William and Stafford — the top prosecutors in those respective jurisdictions.

  • The emerging difference between Republicans and Democrats in these races — enforce the law as written, or criminal justice reform, using prosecutorial judgment and applying the law on a case-by-case basis.

Both counties will also elect a new Sheriff this year.

  • As the population of both counties grows, so do the pressures of keeping residents safe.

Needless to say, we’ve been busy writing about local politics.

  • Personal thought: I’m looking forward to next year’s Presidential Election when we traditionally write less about politics (we don’t cover the president or those running for the White House unless they make a campaign stop locally).

Please take our local election issues poll below.

This will help us better understand what you, our subscribers, say are the most important issues at the polls this year.

I tried to include as many options as I could think of.

  • Please leave any additional campaign issues I may have missed in the comments below.
