Updated: Friday’s tornado watch expires

Updated 10:23 p.m.

The tornado watch has expired, according to the National Weather Service.

12:56 p.m.

The Region is now under a tornado watch until midnight.

This means conditions are favorable for tornados to develop as a large line of thunderstorms continue to march east.

The tornado watch is on top of a flood watch that was issued for the region yesterday.

Severe weather has already popped up in the region, in Spotsylvania County, where a severe thunderstorm warning was issued earlier this hour.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect the region this afternoon through the evening hours.

Here’s more from the National Weather Service which lists the locations affected by today’s tornado watch.
