WOODBRIDGE — A developer of a new app wants her customers to know that towing a car is not the only option.
The app, “Oopseez” allows users to send the owner of an unwanted parked car an anonymous text or email asking the driver to move the vehicle. The aim is to help cut down on the time it takes to resolve the issue, and to save the driver from getting a fine or hefty towing fee.
Keyana Bowie, an entrepreneur in Prince William County, developed the new app while working as an executive assistant. “I then took my transferable skills gained and directed them toward my true passion, which is to build a solution to address parking mishaps,” said Bowie.
While she doesn’t have specifics on towing rates in Prince William County, she says that in Downtown Washington, D.C., more than there are 3,000 vehicles are towed within a 30-day span.
Oopseez will hold a ribbon cutting on Friday, April 26 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Prince William Realtors Association building located at 4545 Daisy Reid Avenue in Woodbridge.
The ribbon-cutting coincides with a Prince William Chamber of Commerce networking event.
“I felt this would be a great opportunity to introduce Oopseez to this audience. We are honing in on residential communities and the Realtor association is the perfect location to start,” said Bowie.
