Stafford, Va. –– Officials on Saturday closed a cooling shelter set up in Stafford after on one bothered to use it.

The center opened Thursday afternoon at the Rowser Building on U.S. 1, in the midst of 100-degree temperatures. It closed just before 9 p.m. Saturday as the worst of the heat wave was passing.

It did not reopen Sunday, officials said.

Temperatures today are expected to be relatively cooler than what they have been over the past several days, with a high of 91 degrees expected, according to the National Weather Service.

But summer is not done with the Potomac Communities yet, as temperatures in the mid to upper 90s will once again become the norm in the area on Thursday and into the weekend.
