Shots Fired in Dumfries: No Injuries or Damage

Police officers responded to a call about shots fired in the 17200 block of Wexford Loop in Dumfries late on December 9. The homeowner confronted a man suspected of attempting to steal from his vehicle. During the encounter, a gunshot was reportedly heard, but no injuries or property damage occurred.

The suspect, described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, wearing dark clothing and a light-colored beanie, fled the scene on foot. No weapon was seen, and no evidence of a shooting was found. The homeowner’s car keys, believed to be in the vehicle, were missing.

Authorities are seeking information from the public to assist in the investigation.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On December 9 at 11:35PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 17200 block of Wexford Lp in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed the homeowner had confronted an unknown man on his property who was believed to have been attempting to take property from the victim’s vehicle. During the encounter, a gunshot was believed to have been heard before the man left the area on foot. No injuries or property damage were reported, and no weapon was seen or evidence of a shooting located. The victim’s car keys were also believed to be in the vehicle and were not located. The suspect was only described as a black male, late teens-early 20s wearing dark-colored clothing and a light-colored beanie cap.
