Hilton Garden Inn Haymarket celebrates grand opening

Owners of the new Hilton Garden Inn celebrated the hotel’s grand opening in Haymarket.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, April 21, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for the new hotel at Route 55 and Jefferson Street, in the heart of town. Multiple members of the Haymarket Town Council attended, including Mayor Ken Luersen, Vice Mayor TracyLynn Pater, and Councilman Bob Weir.

The hotel provided food and refreshments for a crowd of more than 100 people who filled the hotel’s banquet room for an evening of business networking. Afterward, well-wishers filed out to the front of the hotel and stood outside the main entrance for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new 2,570 square foot building will have 117 rooms. Those rooms, along with the hotel’s meeting spaces, can hold 175 people. The new hotel will have 61 employees in different positions throughout the hotel.

Amenities available to the hotel’s guests include free wifi, non-smoking rooms, meeting rooms, wireless printing, a fitness center, and a shop.

The hotel also has a coffee bar called Crossroads Cafe serving locally grown coffee and fresh baked pastries to customers. The restaurant is advertised as a morning hangout where customers can lounge and discuss the day’s events.

The hotel is also home to Red House Tavern, a restaurant offering locally sourced, farm-to-table meals and handcrafted cocktails. The restaurant seeks to pay homage to the 200-year old legacy of the original Red House Tavern, which once stood on the site.

The original Red House Tavern was a well-established and popular venue in Haymarket going back to the 18th century. The earliest reference to the Red House, according to the Historic Haymarket page on the town’s website, goes back to 1777, when a sale notice for the establishment was listed in the Virginia Gazette.

The original Red House build was lost when the town of Haymarket was burned down during the Civil War. It was rebuilt in the same location but with a different configuration.

The new Hilton Garden Inn is located at 15001 Washington Street in Haymarket. Considered an upscale inn, two other Hilton Garden Inn locations sit in Fredericksburg and Woodbridge.
