OmniRide, county seeks to maintain fare subsidy for underused west-end buses

An OmniRide Express commuter bus parked at the system's transit center at 14700 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge.

Leaders hope to boost ridership on area commuter buses by keeping fares low.

The Prince William County Government and OmniRide want to enact an I-66 Commuter Bus Fare Buy Down Transit Incentive Program. The county hopes to win $800,000 in funding for the fare reductions from the Northern Virginia Transit Commission, which provides funding for selected mobility projects in the region.
