STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A former member of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors passed away this weekend.
Lloyd Chittum, 74, died Sunday from a heart attack following complications from a surgery he underwent last week.
Chittum represented the Hartwood District on the Board from 1982 to 1985 and served as the Board’s Vice Chairman in 1982 and 1983.
Chittum was also active in the Republican Party in Stafford County, and in had worked closely with Board Chairman Susan Stimpson (Falmouth), who today remembered Chittum and his wife of 55 years, Gloria.
“He spent a lot of time helping widows and elderly people and both he and Gloria had an open home to any guest who wanted to stop by for a visit. They set the example for what marriage is and for caring for your neighbors. It’s a sad day for the Chittum family and for Stafford County,” said Stimpson.
A business owner, Chittum ran Lloyd’s Acoustics in Stafford County.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
